We found Denby via a friend ’s recommendation, having had experience with Denby when renovating his own period home. We immediately engaged Denby to help us on our own design journey, a run-down Victorian freestanding home which desperately needed a complete restoration. The renovation, redesign and re-construction were carefully planned and documented over a 2-year process, and the home was turned into a functional and practical home for a family of four.

We were excited by the concepts and designs, and to starting the project which was much easier than anticipated due to Denby being interactive and enthusiastic the whole way through. All facets of the project and design process flowed seamlessly and what we expected to be stressful turned out to be enjoyable due to Denby being organised, professional and communicative the whole way through.

We decided that the apartment that we bought in 2021 would look really good with a designer quality renovation and makeover, and after reviewing several companies we chose to go with Denby of DD Interior Design. The design phase through to construction went well, and we were happy to follow Denby’s lead and direction. Denby was flexible in her approach and worked with us each step of the way, guiding us and finding clever solutions for difficult areas.

Once work began it was obvious that Denby had a very good relationship with her trades and brought quality builders, cabinet makers, tillers and wallpapers. The project was well executed, and the renovation process was done well and in a timely fashion.

Our family is very happy with the result, and with the high-quality look and feel ‘restaurant vibe’ that included a practical layout the apartment is now very contemporary.

My husband and I visited a friend of a friends in Bronte and were captivated by the use of colour and texture. When it was time to tackle a renovation of our own- a similar aged period home were learned that Denby Dowling Interior Design had designed and worked on this beautiful home, so we sought Denby out and engaged Denby to complete the Interior Design scope for our very run down property.

Denby proceeded to engage with our Architect and our builder and took what was a very vanilla interior to the next level! We started with the architectural plans and revisited the internal space design over the coming weeks, then we worked on finishes with Denby and with Denby’s clear vision we felt emboldened to consider more venturous colour and design options.

We have been working on ‘The Impossible House” project, the project seeks to turn an old 2-bedroom workers cottage in the middle of Newtown, Sydney Australia into an off the grid sustainable home.

A friend of mine said they wouldn’t consider living in a sustainable house because they like taking showers! For me to contribute to an attitude shift I need my house to be aesthetically pleasing AND to function like a normal house, and that is why and where Denby comes in.

Together, we are creating an appealing design and a unique designer look and feel, so we may contribute to an attitude shift in society.
